Large Tapio Wirkkala Glass Footed Bowl, Inari, Finland

A rare large, footed art glass bowl named “Inari,” designed by the acclaimed Finnish artist and designer Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala.

The bowl’s distinctive, rugged appearance, which resembles an iceberg or frozen landscape, was directly inspired by the natural wilderness of Lapland, Finland, where Wirkkala spent a significant amount of time.

The bowl is created using a complex cut and blown-molded technique with clear glass.
Wirkkala is widely regarded as a key figure and symbol of 20th-century Finnish design, known for his diverse work across various mediums and his ability to translate natural forms into functional art.
